• The Directorate is responsible to address issues and information related to Climate Change in the Sindh Province.
  • Coordination with Ministry of Climate Change at Federal level and key Departments at the provincial level, for climate change related compliance and projects.
  • Liaison with multilateral financial institutions, UN System, INGOs and National and Provincial Organizations under the overall ambient of climate change is also a responsibility of the Directorate.
  • Through the Sindh Climate Change Policy, the DoCC ensures that climate action is mainstreamed in the development planning, particularly, economically and socially vulnerable sectors of the economy, and to steer the province towards sustainable economic growth and climate compatible development.

FUNCTIONS OF DIRECTORATE OF CLIMATE CHANGE

  • The Directorate of Climate Change is mandated to develop the required human, financial and technological resources and inter and intra coordination mechanisms which are required to ensure coordinated and comprehensive response in Climate Change domain.
  • Taking actions in a clear, timely manner to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change and enhance awareness of these impacts among all stakeholders for necessary appropriate measures to combat and minimize these impacts.
  • Identify areas for Climate Change Adaptation
  • The Directorate is also mandated to keep a close liaison with the Ministry of Climate Change and its National Climate Change Policy, ensuring an inclusive growth with green development of Sindh Government’s development interventions.
